On the occasion of the first anniversary of his government, Fadnavis, however, refused to comment on the mud-slinging between him and Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray.

“We will contest the BMC polls together. There is no reason to not have an alliance with Sena,” he said.

“This is the first anniversary of our entire government, not just the BJP’s. Even next year we will complete another year in power together,” Fadnavis added.

On Friday, Thackeray had threatened to walk out of the government if BJP’s arrogance continued even as a Sena minister, Eknath Shinde, handed in his resignation to Thackeray, alleging misuse of power by the ally. Fadnavis retorted by calling the Sena a ‘drama company’.

The Chief Minister also said that one or two incidents (referring to the Sena protests) cannot be used to assess the law and order situation in Maharashtra.
