Fishermen of Kallar near Nagapattinam found the object this morning and immediately alerted the Coast Guard and Coastal Security Group of the Tamil Nadu Police.

A couple of years back, a tank barge used to carry water to personnel working on Sethu Samudram Shipping Canal Project off Kodiakarai coast was damaged at sea.

Coast Guard and Coastal Security Group officials are conducting further investigations, officials said.
