A district level advocacy workshop on HIV/AIDS at Wokha has insisted on churches, community leaders and village bodies to take the lead in spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS among youths.

A district level advocacy workshop on HIV/AIDS at Wokha has insisted on churches, community leaders and village bodies to take the lead in spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS among youths.

The workshop held at Deputy Commissioner's office on Friday on "Political Leadership and Community Empowerment", state Parliamentary Secretary for Prison and Fire Services W Kithan called upon churches and community leaders to take the initiative to spread awareness among the youths and stop its further spread.

The workshop organised by Wokha based Center for Youth and Social Action and supported by Nagaland Legislators Forum on AIDS and Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS), spoke on HIV/AIDS scenario in Wokha district, basic education on the disease, stigma and discrimination attached to it and the role of the community in prevention of HIV/AIDS.
