SENIOR BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu gave tips to the State ministers to brighten the State Government’s image. He stressed on the need for ministers sitting at the State BJP office as per rotation and visiting the district unit offices during their visits to meet workers.
He told the ministers at a meeting held at Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s official residence at Shyamala Hills this afternoon that the five points they should stick to included mass contact, communication, cooperation, coordination and solution.
Later, he addressed the party office-bearers, ministers, MPs and MLAs at the State BJP office and reiterated the points. He said the ministers should be in regular touch with the people in general and the BJP workers in particular. Until and unless they interacted with the people, including the workers they could not come to know what was really going on at the grassroots level.
He said the ministers should also strive to see that there was effective coordination between the government and the party. “We have once suffered the blow and it should not be repeated,” he cautioned them.
He said only knowing about grievances of people was not enough. They should also make efforts to get the grievances redressed.
They should respond to the workers and other people’s phone calls. They were supposed to do legislative work in the State Assembly, administrative work in the mantralaya but public service in public.
He said it should not only be ministers but their staff should also be polite to people and their working should be transparent.
He asked the ministers to pay frequent visits to the rural areas and try to stay at night at villages during their visit. “Do we need to stay at Bhopal only?” he asked.
He told them more they would move about more knowledge they would gain. He (Naidu) moved about for 20-21 days every month, he informed them.
He said every day was important for the party. Two years had passed. The leaders sitting at Delhi were satisfied with the government’s performance here. There was a state of confusion in between for some time.
But now Shivraj Singh Chouhan as the chief minister and Satyanarayan Jatia as the State BJP president were performing their duties well. The Government, however, needed to speed up its work on the people’s basic needs like power, road, water etc.
He said the UPA government had miserably failed on every front. About five thousands farmers had committed suicide after the alliance coming to power at the Centre. A series of scandals had taken place during the government. It had failed to check terrorism. About two lakh Bangladeshi intruders were living in the country.
Those present at the meeting included the State BJP president Satyanarayan Jatia, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, State BJP organising general secretary Kaptan Singh Solanki, former chief minister Sunderlal Patwa, Members of Parliament
Kailash Joshi, Vikram Verma, Sumitra Mahajan, Thavarchand Gehlot, Nandkumar Singh Chouhan and Ganesh Singh, newly elected Rajya Sabha member Anusuiya Uike, Ministers Babulal Gaur, Kamal Patel, Ajay Vishnoi, Narottam Mishra, Chaudhary Chandrabhan Singh, Kusum Mehdele, Ramakant Tiwari, Jagdish Devda, Rustam Singh and Laxmikant Sharma.
