He was addressing a public meeting on the Berasia Krishi Upaj Mandi premises after inaugurating six small irrigation projects worth Rs 37.21 crore and three other small irrigation projects of Rs 4.3 crore.

Naidu said until and unless rural areas in the country developed, India would not develop. He recalled that Mahatma Gandhi too had said that the dream of Ram Rajya would be incomplete without Gram Rajya.

Naidu suggested that 50 per cent amount in the 11th five-year-plan be spent on rural development to help rural areas become self-reliant.

Praising Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for his style of functioning he added that the development work carried out in the State would ensure Chouhan became Chief Minister of the State again.

Chouhan on the occasion spoke about the measures undertaken for the development of the State particularly in rural areas. He announced the establishment of a Nagar Palika at Berasia besides construction of a power sub-station, stadium and an upmandi.
