Born on March, 20, 1946 at village Rampur in Mandsour district, he is one of the important Congress leaders of Madhya Pradesh.
He Holds a Bachelors degree in Engineering (Electrical). After completing education he was engaged in social service and active politics.

First elected to the MP Legislative Assembly in 1985, he had been a member of Public Accounts committee, Estimate committee and Public sector undertakings committee of the Assembly.
He was re-elected as a MLA from the same constituency in 1993 and then inducted as a Minister in the Cabinet of Digvijay Singh. He was again elected to the Assembly in 1998 and again inducted as a Minister in Digvijay Singh's Cabinet on Dec 6, 1998.
