Nation?s education policy should match its philosophy

He was addressing an educational workshop-cum-seminar on ‘Teaching: Perspectives, Issues and Challenges’ organised by Maitri Bhawan, an Inter-Religious Dialogue Centre and the Institute for Study of Religions in Bhelupur area here on Saturday.

Prof Kushwaha added that educational policy of India was still associated with its philosophy and was rendering quality education along with various aspects of globalisation. He said that teachers are the engineers of nation building and efforts should be made to keep the educational system away from commercialisation.

However, he expressed concern over growing commercialisation of education system in India and called upon the teachers to extend support to talented but poor and deprived students. “Higher education is not untouched with the impact of globalization,” he said. There was need of firm commitment to counter the challenges before the education system in the country, he added.

Prof Kushwaha added that everyone who performed his duties with commitment and honesty was a teacher. “India would lead in the field of innovations by the year 2020 if its citizens perform their duties with commitment and honesty,” he claimed.
