Naughty monkeys to get a Vatika!

Forest Department with the help of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation is all set to select a piece of land on city outskirts to relocate the monkeys. In the endeavour, an NGO has extended its help for the cause.

Dr Vivek Sharma, a representative of the NGO said the Forest Department had received Rs 5 lakh for capturing the monkeys and relocating them into the centre. It has been learnt that the LMC had approved the allocation of land.
The forest department had employed a monkey catcher for the cause. As of now the monkeys are either being kept in the zoo or are being released in the wilds. But, experts feel that survival rate of the monkeys in jungles, especially after capturing them from the residential areas was less. “Therefore, the centre would come a long way in providing an ideal habitation for the monkeys that are relocated,” said a forest official.
