"Shankaran is somewhere in Europe and we will get him soon," a senior CBI official said. While refusing to comment on his present whereabouts, the official said British authorities had intimated them.

A British court had in April issued an arrest warrant against Shankaran, a relative of former naval chief Admiral Arun Prakash.

The agency refused to comment on whether Shankaran had slipped out of Britain. "We don't require a fresh letter rogatory. The arrest warrant issued by the British court is applicable in Europe," the official said.

Shankaran, declared a proclaimed offender in the case, had left India prior to the registration of the case by the CBI. He was later chargesheeted. He is wanted for alleged leak of classified data from the war room or directorate of naval operations.
