The Rohtas police on Wednesday recovered huge cache of ammunition including over 100 kilograms of explosives and 100 detonators at district headquarters Sasaram. Two women activists of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) have been arrested.
Police suspect that the explosives were to be used for exploding the Sasaram jail, where a large number of Maoists are lodged.
SP Vikas Vaibhav said that the explosives were recovered from an area adjacent to the district jail. “We have arrested two women activists of the CPI (Maoist) with the cache of ammunitions. The recovery of such a huge quantity of explosives indicates towards a big plan of the Maoists.
The raids are still continuing”, he said.
During the last Lok Sabha polls, the Maoists had attacked a BSF camp in Kaimur hills, in which a jawan was grievously injured. The hilly terrains of Kaimur have been the centre of Maoists activities since late seventies, as it provides safe refuge for the ultras. It also forms part of the Naxal corridor stretching up to Palamu and Garhwa in Jharkhand.
