Naxalites gunned down a man in Bihar's East Champaran district for allegedly collecting money from people in the name of the Maoists, the police said on Monady.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Pakridayal sub division) M K Anand said the Naxalites assaulted Bihkara Prasad (35) at Bara Bihsunpur village under Rajepur police station last night before shooting him dead.

The Maoists then left leaving behind leaflets saying those trying to malign the organisation would also face the same consequence that of Bhikhar.
Anand said Bhikhar was wanted in a case of dacoity. The body has been sent for postmortem and efforts were on to arrest the naxalites, he said.
