Naxals attack Cong convoy in Raipur; 6 securitymen killed

Cong candidate from Bijapur Assembly constituency, R Pambhai, escaped unhurt in the attack.

Six of the seven security personnel, including an Assistant Platoon Commander, were killed in the Naxalite attack on the convoy of Congress candidate from Bijapur Assembly constituency, Rajendra Pambhai, who escaped unhurt on Saturday evening, a top police official said on Sunday.

"The impact of the blast was so strong that bodies of five of the six dead were blown to pieces and the vehicle was severely damaged," Bijapur SP JS Watti said over the phone.
