As soon as he gave in, the sleuths of the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) took Nayak along with his associate Rajendra Padate to their Worli office. The duo will be produced in a court for remand on Tuesday.

Earlier, Nayak had moved the Supreme Court after the sessions court and the Bombay High Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea. The apex court, which declined to interfere with the high court's deci sion, had directed him to surrender.

Nayak is likely to assist the CID in its probe into the alleged custodial death of Khwaja Younus, a suspect in the 2002 serial blasts. More than half-adozen Mumbai Crime Branch officials have already been arrested in this regard, sources said.

Meanwhile, the ACB is likely to summon superstar Amitabh Bachchan and other Bollywood bigwigs who had attended the inauguration of a school allegedly set up by Nayak in his native village in Udupi, Karnataka, in 2000.
