However, Venkatesh has said that she stands by her report on the pub assault.

At a meeting in New Delhi on Friday, the NCW took stock of the entire report filed by Venkatesh and decided not to accept it, said Commission chairperson Girija Vyas.

However, the NCW will not send a fresh team to Mangalore on a fact-finding mission as an independent commission from the Women and Child Development Ministry has already visited Mangalore for an on-the-spot assessment of the incident.

The move by NCW comes a day after the Women and Child Development Ministry issued a show-cause notice to Venkatesh for not submitting her report on the case.

Venkatesh had led a three-member team, which visited Mangalore on a fact-finding mission after the attack on girls by Sri Ram Sene activists. The other members of the team comprised of a lawyer and a local NGO representative.
