The party contended that the internal survey conducted by the party predicted a win for them.

"We have also done our internal survey which shows BJP emerging as the single largest party and the NDA as the most credible pre-poll alliance," BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters here.

Prasad said the internal survey showed BJP winning 166 seats and the NDA emerging victorious in 218 constituencies.

Contending that its survey was the most credible, he said the same agency had given BJP 50 seats in the 2007 UP assembly elections whereas television channels had showed the party winning between 90 and 100 seats.

Prasad said the survey conducted by the BJP showed Congress gaining only in Kerala, Punjab and Rajasthan and faring badly in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

Prasad said the BJP was looking forward to some "very dramatic" results in its favour in Uttar Pradesh.
