Denying its hand in the October 30 blasts in Assam that claimed over 70 lives, the banned National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) on Thursday sought lifting of the ban on the insurgent group.
In the backdrop of the Assam police accusing the group of the serial blasts, NDFB secretary B Swmkhawr said during hearing of tribunal in Shillong, The NDFB is not involved in the blasts. The outfit has expelled its chairman Ranjan Daimary since he was accused of being involved in the blast.
Swmkhawr said since 2005 when the group entered into negotiations, it has adhered to the ceasefire ground rules.
Its cadres were staying at the designated camps and they are not involved in illegal or violence activities, the secretary said.
The hearing of the Unlawful Activities Preventive Tribunal on the cases against the NDFB was held in Shillong on Thursday in the court of Justice S N Agrawal of a Delhi Court.
During the hearing three witnesses from Assam government, including Guwahati SSP P Saloi, SP (special operation) Smt B Gogoi, deposed before the Judge and submitted a petition not to lift the ban on the NDFB, alleging that the outfit is still involved in illegal and criminal activities.
