A NDFB militant was nabbed from Chandmari area in the heart of Guwahati city on Sunday while two others managed to escape, police said.

Acting on a tip-off about a group of three hardcore NDFB militants having taken shelter in Krishnagar locality kf Chandmari, the police launched a search operation in the area.

The police nabbed one of the militants and a revolver was recovered from his possesion, the police said.

The militant has been identified as Lila Basumatary.

The security forces have intensified search operations in the run-up to the Independence Day as there are intelligence reports that the banned ULFA and NDFB are planning to create disturbances to disrupt the celebrations.
