Within hours of resigning from the Congress party, Shailaja Reddy reached the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) office here and joined the party in the presence of Chiranjeevi.

Welcoming her into the party, the actor said the development showed the importance his party gave to women.

Shailaja Reddy's resignation from the Congress came after differences cropped up between her and state Information and Public Relations Minister A Ramnarayan Reddy and his brother legislator A Vivekanand Reddy.

A large number of fans, meanwhile, continued to gather here to hail Chiranjeevi's entry into politics. Hundreds of fans from various districts arrived here Wednesday to meet and greet the actor.

Addressing his fans, Chiranjeevi dismissed criticism that he had no clarity on various issues. He said he would be trying to solve people's problems by seeking their opinion.

PRP spokesman P Mitra also took strong exception to reports in a section of media that there were no 'praja' (people) in Praja Rajyam.
