Nepalese Parliament members, including those from ruling parties, on Wednesday asked the government to inform the House about the latest developments in its talks with Maoists.
During the second round of high level talks between Seven Party Alliance government and the Maoist leadership on Wednesday, both sides agreed to hold constituent assembly elections within mid-June 2007.
However, the exact date of the polls will be decided by the interim government to be constituted inclusive of the Maoists.
Nepali Congress MP Tirtha Ram Dangol asked the government to inform Parliament about the understanding reached between the Government and the Maoists during the high level talks between Prime Minister GP Koirala and Maoist chief Prachanda.
While CPN-UML lawmaker Bharat Mohan Adhikari welcomed the talks, People's Front Nepal MP Lilamani Pokhrel warned that any agreement reached between the government and the Maoists against the mandate given by the people through the April movement will not be acceptable.
The SPA-Maoists meeting also handed over the responsibility of finding points of agreement on crucial issues to the talks teams of both sides so as to submit it to the leaders by Thursday afternoon when the third session of the peace talks is scheduled to take place.
