A protestor wounded during a demonstration against the monarchy in Nepal died on Sunday from bullet wounds after undergoing treatment in Lucknow, a relative and a doctor said.

Prem Lal Lamichhane, one of many Nepalese rushed to Uttar Pradesh state for treatment, died overnight, said a doctor at the private Nova Healthcare Centre in Lucknow.

His nephew Mahesh said his uncle was seriously injured when security personnel opened fire in the western Nepalese town of Bardiya on Thursday.
