THE NORTH Eastern Railway administration for Varanasi division has geared up to equip the Manduadeeh Railway Terminal station with modern passengers facilities. Facilities like Air-conditioned waiting hall, reservation display board will be provided to the passengers with extension of car parking and circulating areas of the station.
Talking to media persons, divisional railway manager of North Eastern Railway for Varanasi division Shailendra Tripathi said that Digital Multiple Unit (DMU) trains would be run from Manduadeeh, Ballia, Ghazipur and Chhapra in the first phase.
He also said a proposal regarding construction of a new workshop for the maintenance of DMU trains at Manduadeeh station was forwarded to the Railway Board.
Tripathi said a washable apron based on German technique would also be made on platform number 1 of this station. “A sum of Rs 1.42 crore has been sanctioned in this regard,” Tripathi said. He added that this type of washable apron was used at he Katak railway station in Orissa.
He said efforts were on to increase the speed of trains between Varanasi and Allahabad.
Tripathi said Luxury chairs would also be placed for the convenience of passengers at Manduadeeh station and other ‘A’ grade stations such as Chhapra, Siwan, Deoria and Azamgarh. He said that a new waiting hall, reservation hall and over-bridge would be constructed at the Azamgarh railway station.
