The new series of textbooks prepared by NCERT following the recommendations of National Curriculum Framework will be released next week.

The text books for standards I, II, VI, IX and XI will be released on April five by Human Resources Minister Arjun Singh, a release said on Friday.

"For preparing the textbooks, a serious attempt has been made to provide interdisciplinary linkages with the goal of giving students a chance to understand different topics and issues, rather than merely memorise information," it said.

Jayant Narlikar, Hari Vasudevan, and Yogendra Singh were among numerous experts who guided the textbook preparation process, it added.

Textbooks, which have been in use in the remaining classes, (Std II, IV, V, VII, VIII, X and XII) will continue.

The complete text of the new books in all subjects is available on NCERT's website
