Eleven months after inaugurating the Atta-Great India Place underpass to provide succour to those travelling from Dadri-Surajpur-Chhalera Road to Sector 18, the Noida Authority has now unveiled a Rs 72-crore plan to ensure a signal-free, faster commute in Sector 37.

The Authority recently approved the construction of a 900-metre-long flyover and a 600-metre underpass at the Golf Crossing traffic junction in Sector 37, which stays congested during rush hour. The project, proposed by the authority's engineering department, is projected to reduce travelling time between Delhi and Noida.

The underpass, according to the Authority, would connect the Atta underpass, via Botanical Garden to DSC Road. The flyover, on the other hand, would cater to commuters travelling from Kalindi Kunj, via Sector 37 to Dadri and Bhangel in Greater Noida.

"We have completed the feasibility report on the two projects and work will begin in phases from September," S K Srivastava, project engineer, Noida Authority told HT.

Another Noida Authority official, who requested anonymity, told HT: "The new flyover and underpass would improve connectivity between national highways and allow easy inter-city as well as intra-city commuting by decongesting Noida roads."

Commuters could expect a signal-free travel across this stretch of the city once the proposed flyover and the underpass get operational.

Local residents have welcomed the projects.

"Noida residents suffer due to traffic coming in from Delhi, Ghaziabad and other adjoining areas. Though the Metro rail network has been a relief, the proposed underpass and flyover will help reduce traffic congestion here," said Tejas Aggarwal, who lives in Sector 21.
