The couple, Praveen and his wife Brijeesha from Kolahalamedu in Idukki district, had come to the Medical College Hospital here today complaining that the woman was suffering from bleeding following an abortion.

But, on examination, the doctors found that Brijeesha was suffering from post-delivery complications. The doctors then grilled the couple and they admitted Birjeesha had delivered a twin just a day before. They later went home and brought the bodies of the new-born twins which had their throats slit, police said.

The police registered a case and the couple were being interrogated.
