Patil was arrested on June 6 for his alleged involvement in the murder of Nimbalkar and his driver at Navi Mumbai on June 3, 2006 allegedly due to political and business rivalry.

Six other accused have also been arrested by the CBI in the case- Satish Mandade, Mohan Shukla, Kailash Yadav, Pintu Singh, Parasmal Jain and Dinesh Tiwari.

"The chargesheet will be filed by this week before the Panvel metropolitan magistrate against the seven accused. All the accused will be charged under criminal conspiracy and double murder," a senior CBI official said.

He further said that the chargesheet would include the statements of a few of the accused, witnesses statement and documentary evidence against Patil and the other accused.

All the accused are presently in judicial custody.

Patil has been admitted to a government hospital in Navi Mumbai since last month undergoing treatment for malaria.
