Nimbalkar murder case: Pandey remanded to CBI custody

A sessions court today remanded Chote Pandey, an accused in the Congress leader Pawanraje Nimbalkar murder case, to CBI custody till March 20.

A sessions court on Thursday remanded Chote Pandey, an accused in the Congress leader Pawanraje Nimbalkar murder case, to CBI custody till March 20.

Pandey was arrested by the CBI on March 5 from Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh and was brought to Mumbai last night, CBI officials said.

He was produced before additional sessions judge Shailaja Pohekar who remanded him to CBI custody.

"Pandey had arranged for the three shooters, weapon and was driving the Indica vehicle at the time of the murder," CBI counsel Ejaz Khan told PTI.

NCP leader Padamsinh Patil was also arrested in June last year by the CBI for allegedly conspiring and murdering Nimbalkar on June 3, 2006 at Kalamboli in Navi Mumbai.

According to CBI, Patil had paid a contract sum of Rs 30 lakh to co-accused for murdering Nimbalkar. The motive behind
the murder was political and business rivalry. CBI had filed over 5,000 page charge sheet on August 20.

Patil was released on bail in September last year by Alibagh sessions court.
