Nine killed, 12 hurt as bus rams dumper in Mewat

At least nine persons were killed on Thursday and 12 seriously injured when a private bus collided with a speeding dumper in neighbouring Mewat district.

At least nine persons were killed on Thursday and 12 seriously injured when a private bus collided with a speeding dumper in neighbouring Mewat district.

The accident took place at around 3 pm near Nasirabad village. The injured have been admitted in a hospital at Mandikheda, police said.

According to eye witnesses, the private bus, carrying passengers from Firozpur Jhirka, was on its way to Nuh on the Gurgaon-Alwar Road. The bus collided head-on with the dumper, they said.

The deceased have been identified as Ratti, 26, Arshida, 24, Mubina, 25, Rahul, 10, Saakir, 13, a 3-year-old girl and a 20-year-old youth. One person died on his way to the hospital, police said.

On hearing about the accident, villagers gathered at the spot. It took them nearly half-an-hour to admit the victims to the hospital.

In a separate incident, five persons died and eight others were injured when an under-construction electricity tower collapsed at Jattikalan village of Mewat on

Thursday morning. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital.

Youth, woman commit suicide in Gurgaon
In two separate incidents, a 23-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging themselves in their homes on Wednesday.
According to police, Naresh, 23, a resident of Sirhaul, was working with a private company.
In the second case, Sudha, 29, a married woman, committed suicide at her Pataudi residence.
