Nine killed in Haryana road accident

Nine pilgrims returning from the famous shrine of Vaishno Devi in Jammu and Kashmir were killed today when their vehicle collided with a truck near here.

Nine pilgrims returning from the famous shrine of Vaishno Devi in Jammu and Kashmir were killed on Thursday morning when their vehicle collided with a truck near here.

The incident occurred at National Highway (NH) No.1 (Ambala-Delhi) in Samalkha town, 15 km from this industrial city.

"The victims were returning from Mata Vaishno Devi temple and were going back to their hometown Bulandshahr (in Uttar Pradesh) when their Tavera collided with the truck," a police official said.

"While eight were killed instantly, another person died at a nearby hospital. At least four-five people were injured in the accident," the police said.
