During a surprise check of the Government Doon Hospital in Dehra Dun on Monday, Nishank enquired a patient about the treatment he was receiving. In reply, a relative of the patient told him that he bought blood for Rs 1,200 from outside the hospital despite him belonging to BPL category.

Following which Nishank ordered an inquiry and directed the hospital authorities to take stern action against the erring officials.

In Uttarakhand, Below Poverty Line (BPL) patients are provided blood free of cost.
