Two engineers of the NMC were nabbed on Thursday by the ACB for demanding bribe of Rs 20,000 from an architect in the district, the agency sources said.

Shivaji Chavanke, Executive Engineer and Deputy Engineer Ashok Mehsram were caught on Wednesday evening for demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000 from an architect for getting a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) for row-houses at Chunchale-Shivar here, superintendent of police (ACB) Harish Baijal told reporters here on Friday.

Acting on a tip-off, the ACB laid a trap on the duo, alongwith NMC peon Sunil Daptare and private agent Praveen Sonawane, they said.

The ACB also searched Meshram's house and seized cash of Rs 29 lakh, the agency added.

The Shiv Sena ruled-NMC had recently suspended its superintendent engineer Sunil Khune on alleged charges of corruption in underground drainage works.
