A MIG-29 crashed on Pirotan island, 40 Km off the coast of Jamnagar during a routine training schedule. However, pilots ejected to safety from the aircraft and were later rescued from the sea by IAF teams.
"The accident site is 50 km away from the refinery project. It has not affected the work there," a RIL spokesperson said.
RIL is constructing a 29 million tonnes (580,000 barrels per day) refinery at a site adjacent to its existing plant (660,000 barrels per day) at Jamnagar.
The $6 billion project, which on standlone basis would be the sixth largest project at a single location in the world, will make the largest concentration of refining capacity at Jamnagar.
