"We have been keeping a vigil on birds coming into Delhi and have also conducted tests. We believe there is no immediate threat in the capital but we will take extra effort from now on," said KN Tiwari, a public health officer with the MCD.

He added that several awareness programmes were conducted, and random tests were carried out on birds since November.

"Since the government has spread awareness among poultry farm owners about precautions and medicines, we do not expect any immediate threat in the capital," Tiwari said.
