Informing about the land purchase by the army chief, DC Kangra RS Gupta said General Singh had purchased a small plot measuring about one and half Kanals at Tapovan near Himachal Vidhan Sabba complex in 2008.

“General Singh had purchased this land for construction of a house,” Gupta said.

Giving details of the land purchased by General Singh, Gupta told that a chunk of land - Khasra number 883/363 in Moujna Rausan, Muahal-Sidhbari - has been purchased by the army official.

Denying any irregularity in the land purchase, Gupta said General Singh had sought permission of the state government before purchasing the land and he was given proper sanction under sanction 118 of Land Reforms and Tenancy act.

Gupta further said according to the norms when a person from outside the Himachal purchase a land in the state he has to made some construction on the land within 180 days.

“The Army chief has constructed a boundary wall on the land and there is no irregularity in land purchase,” said Gupta.

General Singh has also maintained that the land was purchased with due permission from the state government.
