"We have no knowledge about Biti. Orissa police had earlier assisted Rajasthan Police when they came to the state to search him," a senior police officer in Cuttack said.

On Rajasthan's plan to send a special operation group (SOG) in search of Biti, Orissa's Director General of Police Manmohan Praharaj said, "no communication had so far been received".

Biti is son of B B Mohanti, Director General (Fire Service) and Commandant General (Home Guards).

Then 25-year-old, Biti had been charged with raping a German woman in a hotel room on March 21, 2006. He was convicted on April 12.

He was lodged in a jail in Alwar in Rajasthan and subsequently released on a 15-day parole on November 20 to see his sick mother in Cuttack.

Teams from the desert state visited Cuttack and raided several places in his search.
