"A patent (filed in 2008) was just approved for "systems, devices, and methods" of filtering "text-based messages" based on "objectionable content," reported TechCrunch.

How they do it

There are systems, devices and methods which allow the user to control the content of their text messages. So, in some cases, a message will be blocked if it includes forbidden content. In other cases, the objectionable content would be removed from the message before it is sent out or received.

Parents can decide what is 'objectionable'

Guess what! As a parent, you can get to decide and control what kind of messages they send or receive. The content of such messages is controlled by filtering the message based on defined criteria. The criteria may be defined according to a parental control application..

So, gift your child an iPhone and relax!
