No new liquor shops in 2007-08 in State

THE STATE Cabinet on Tuesday decided that no new liquor shop would be opened for year 2007-08 in the State. The Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also fixed the time for opening of retail country foreign liquor shops from 10 am to 11 pm.

THE STATE Cabinet on Tuesday decided that no new liquor shop would be opened for year 2007-08 in the State. The Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also fixed the time for opening of retail country foreign liquor shops from 10 am to 11 pm.

The time for foreign liquor shops and clubs where consumption of liquor is permitted within the premises would be from 10 am to 11.30 pm.

The Cabinet also decided to retain existing Excise Policy with slight modifications here and there. Like the previous year, a hike of 20 per cent has been approved for renewal of bar and liquor shop license. Contractors of 2007-08 will be eligible for renewal of their licence on increase of 20 per cent in year 2008-09.

The licence fee for FL- 3 is Rs 6 lakh for cities with a population of over 10 lakh; Rs 4.80 lakh for cities with population of more than five lakh and up to 10 lakh; Rs 4.20 lakh for cities with population of more than three lakh up to five lakh; Rs 3.60 lakh for cities with population of more than one lakh up to three lakh and Rs 3 lakh for cities having population of more than 50,000 up to one lakh.

For the hotel bars (FL-3) and restaurant bar (FL-2) licence, in addition to foreign liquor imported from other countries, sale of Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), draught beer, beer whose ex-godown price is not less than Rs 300 per case (12 quarter bottle or equivalent) and spirit (whisky, rum, gin, brandy, Vodka, wine etc) whose ex-godown price per case (12 quarter bottle or equivalent) is not less than Rs 1,100 will be permitted.
