Intervening in the debate on drought situation in Bundelkhand in Parishad during the adjournment motion tabled by Ranjit Singh Judeo and Nasib Pathan (both Congress), the minister said that situation was turning grave. He said that insufficient rainfall in mid-July created the present situation. However, there was no report from any district about the loss of 50 per cent crop which was necessary to declare an area as drought-hit and added officers were monitoring the situation.

Earlier raising drought situation in Bundelkhand region, Judeo said that there was neither power supply nor the government had taken any step to irrigate the canals. He said that the government had not taken any relief measures for the region. Participating in the debate, Munna Singh Chauhan (RLD) said that the State was reeling under drought.
