No ground intelligence or evidence has emerged pointing to the presence of suicide attackers who Pakistan said had infiltrated India through the coastal city of Gujarat, sources told HT.

A nationwide alert was sounded and commandos from the National Security Guard (NSG) were rushed to Ahmedabad, many of them to guard the Somnath temple, following the unusual input last week from Pakistani national security adviser Naseer Khan Janjua to Indian counterpart Ajit Doval. The input said at least 10 suicide attackers had entered India.
“The intelligence input didn’t mention any possible targets or the group that was involved in it. No route – sea or land – was mentioned. It was very vague but we cannot take any chances therefore NSG was mobilised and a high-alert was sounded,” said a senior security official requesting anonymity. “We have not lowered our guard.”
