The major power cut for 12 hours was during the Jat agitation and the pre-monsoon storms, which damaged two power houses electricity poles and sub-stations. Last year long power cuts lasting 12-16 hours were mainly due to over loading of transformers and less capacity of sub-stations which was set by the discom and Transco.

“As compared to last year, summer this year was more comfortable with less power cuts. Last year we had frequent trips,” said YN Gupta, a resident of Sushant Lok-2.

The demand must have increased by 18LUs this year but discom and Transco seem to have improved the situation and kept their promise to make Gurgaon a power-cut free city.
