No takers for job scheme

The district administration is finding it difficult to implement the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) as there are hardly any takers. HT reports.

The district administration is finding it difficult to implement the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) as there are hardly any takers. The reason is workers are getting higher wages in other privately-run projects in Noida.

According to project director RP Yadav, “Under the rural job scheme scheme, 2010-11 in Bisrakh, only Rs 0.03750 lakh was spent against the target of Rs 13.670 lakh, which was just 0.27%. In Dankore, it was around 3.08%.”
