Nooijer awarded Player of the Year

He won the coveted award for a record third time in the past four years.

Dutch artist Teun de Nooijer won the coveted FIH 'Player of the Year' award on Saturday for a record third time in the past four years.

The wily schemer and forward was adjudged best hockey player in the world in 2006. He had previously won the award in 2003 and 2005.

The Young Player of the Year award went to Germany's Christopher Zeller.

International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge gave away the awards at a function on Saturday.
