With the Bandra-Worli sealink project hanging incomplete and the Worli-Nariman Point plan still on paper, the state now wants to build a new one — a 13-km bridge over the western seaboard from Bandra to Versova.
Public Works Department Minister Anil Deshmukh told HT that the detailed bid document for the project would be prepared and the mandatory environment clearance got from the Centre. The cost of the project: Rs 6,500 crore.
This sealink would eventually shape into a single north-south high-speed bridge over the sea from Versova in the north of Mumbai to Nariman Point at the southern tip.
The resolution for the project was passed at a high-level board meeting on Thursday chaired by Deshmukh. The pre-feasibility study has been conducted by Consulting Engineering Services.
