The BJP on Thursday warned of disciplinary action against Manvendra Singh, the son of expelled party leader Jaswant Singh, for “anti-party” activity.

Manvendra, a Rajasthan BJP legislator, is reported to have campaigned for his father and against the BJP’s Barmer ticket-holder Col Sonaram.

"If Manvendra had to campaign for his father, then he should have informed the party on moral grounds.

We have received complaints against Manvendra and photographs where he is seen campaigning for his father, which we will examine and accordingly take action," BJP state president Ashok Parnami said.

The party’s state in-charge Kaptan Singh Solanki said Manvendra could be suspended or expelled from the party.

Manvendra, who is in Barmer, told HT that he was not against the BJP and that he had been meeting 'original' party workers. He refused to elaborate.

Solanki said, "if somebody works against the party then action will be as per the party constitution. After complete verification of the complaint against him, we will talk to Manvendra. We believe that there should not be injustice with anybody."

Manvendra had skipped a meeting of Barmer MLAs called by chief minister Vasundhara Raje two weeks back and had informed the party that he had been recommended a month’s bed rest and would not be able to take part in party activities.
