Gita Singh, who is also Samajwadi Party MLA from Balrampur, reportedly has the support of the well-entrenched Thakur lobby in the party in her anti-Bua Singh drive. As part of the strategy, Gita Singh yesterday shot off a letter to principal secretary (Home) Alok Sinha demanding adequate protection from Bua
Singh.

Thus, even before the government decides on the next DGP, hectic moves have begun to paint the front-runner, Bua Singh, in black.

Some DGs aspiring for the top post have reportedly been aiding and abetting the anti-Bua Singh forces.

Sinha told newsmen today that he had sought report from the director general of police on Gita Singh’s missive to him. He said the letter had been forwarded to the DGP for appropriate action. The director general of police’s report would also reveal his views on the controversy, Sinha said. The State Government had so far maintained ‘no-tussle-between-DGP-DG PAC’ stand.

In her letter faxed to Sinha, the DGP’s wife narrated her version of the Gonda incident. She has written that DIG range Safi A Rizvi and DIG PAC DC Pandey had laid siege of the house and threatened to kill her. Gita Singh said Rizvi also demanded Rs 2 lakh from Shiv Bux Singh to hand over the possession of the house.

Gita Singh said she got message from her “informer” that “Bua Singh was coming with force to attack her”. She said the informer advised her to “flee or you will be killed”.

She said Rizvi was trying to slap Goonda and Gangster Act on her supporters in Gonda. While seeking protection from the government, Gita Singh said legal action should taken in the matter. She said security should be increased otherwise “Bua Singh will get her killed”.
