NR puts off third phase of exam

NORTHERN RAILWAY has postponed the third phase of Railway Recruitment Cell?s Grade IV examination, which was scheduled on March 5, till further notice owing to leakage of question paper on February 26. The February 12 phase one of the examination is also likely to be scrapped following confession of the accused regarding leakage of the paper.

The Lucknow division of Northern Railway stopped distribution of duplicate identity cards to candidates at the Railway stadium on Monday. The decision was taken during a high-level meeting presided over by Northern Railway general manager V K Mathur in Delhi.

STF teams sent to different places
STF teams were despatched to Patna, Jaunpur and Delhi to trace the root of the railway exam paper leak case. The STF had arrested 16 members of the gang including its kingpin Bedi Lal and had seized copies of the paper.

The documents related to property and the jewellery worth crores of rupees were recovered from Bedi’s house during the investigation. The STF had informed the Income Tax officials about the wealth disproportionate to Bedi’s income. The STF sleuths added five other names to the FIR lodged at the Krishnanagar police station. They were identified as Mullick, Bedi’s brother Dindayal, Sadhu, Mithilesh and Rashmi Chandra. The named accused were reported absconding. Following STF’s information the Jhansi police raided the residence and the office premises of Rashmi Chandra but they failed to trace her.
