He was addressing a review meeting held here on Saturday to solve the technical glitches in software applications faced by the janpad panchayats at Indore, Barwani, Dhar, Khandwa, Khargone, Jhabua and Burhanpur in feeding NREGP data.

He commended the efforts of the Commissionerate in installing five computers at each janpad panchayat in seven districts of Indore division. Not many revenue divisions have this facility, he said.

Divisional Commissioner Ashok Das, in his address, emphasised on feeding complete MIS related information. He recommended modification in software to incorporate information about social audit and said it was important to explore requirements of an integrated software application for rural development sector.

National Informatics Centre Technical Director Madhuri Sharma and Sanjay Singh had been invited here to solve software data integration problems faced by computer operators. The panchayats had complained that they were unable to integrate the old data in the new software that NIC had designed to build MIS needed for NREGP.

Under NREGP, the government has to provide at least 100 days of guaranteed wage employment once in a financial year to every rural household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work. Village panchayats have been made principal authorities to prepare a development plan and maintain a shelf of possible projects to be taken up under the scheme as and when demand for work arises.
