A cash prize of Rs 2,500 for the first position was bagged by Bhavnet Kour, while Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,500 for the second and the third positions were bagged by Mehula and Spandita, respectively. Three consolation prizes of Rs 500 each for Manveen, Sargam and Anvi were also given by NRHM, Jammu.
The event showcased the alarming apprehension of participants from various classes. It not only highlighted a socio-cultural evil that is deeply embedded in South Asian countries but also aimed at changing the sensibilities of masses through the concern raised 'by the girl child for the girl child'.
The chief guest, Roma Wani, chairperson, Inner Call Forum for Evolution, Development and Awareness, extolled the students for their efforts and asked them to instill self-belief in themselves that every woman is special in her own sphere and they should make a special effort to thank such people in life.
