NRI organisations to protest Volcker report

Over 150 Non-resident Indian organisations, including the Indian National Overseas Congress (INOC), plan to hold protests against the Volcker Independent Inquiry Committee report.

Over 150 Non-resident Indian organisations, including the Indian National Overseas Congress (INOC), plan to hold protests against the Volcker Independent Inquiry Committee report that names External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh and the Congress party as non-contractual beneficiaries in Iraqi oil deals.

"Some 158 NRI organisations would be involved in the massive protest," Press Secretary of INOC Sunil Sinha said on Sunday.

He said they are seeking a meeting with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan on the issue.
