The members of district nurse association gheraoed the Director General (Health) and handed over a memorandum demanding promotion and centralisation of their transfer. The members also staged dharna at the DG's office at Lucknow on Friday to protest against the transfer policy of nurses.

District nurse association president Safia Khatun said the Director General (Health) accepted their main demand of promotion and withdrawing powers from the CMO and Additional Director (Health) to transfer nurses.
"The DG assured to send a fax in this regard to all the ADs and CMOs in the state. The ADs would only send a list to the DG and the latter would decide their transfer," Safia Khatun claimed.
"The DG (Health) listened to our problems and demands very patiently and gave assurance to take the matter to higher authorities," she further added.
