The residents of new Gurgaon localities off Sohna Road were forced to spend eight hours without electricity on Monday. Power tripped at 11am and could only be restored at 7pm.
The reason for the long power cut was some technical fault in one of the two power transformers of 25/31 mw capacity located at Sector 38.
The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitaran Nigam (DHBVN), the power distribution agency, has however, held the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN) responsible for the power cut. The DHBVN officials claim that the eight-hour power cut was due to slow repair work on part of the HVPN, which had assured to repair the transformer in three hours. The PTs are under maintenance of HVPN and needed maximum three hours to rectify the error.
“The HVPN had asked for three hour of power-cut between 11am and 2pm but power was not restored even at 6:45pm,” said Subhash Deswal, superintending engineer (SE) DHBVN.
When asked, Vinita Bansal, sub-station engineer, HVPN, said, “We had no idea that the repair work would take more than three hours. However, we had informed the concerned DHBVN official about the delay.”

{{/usCountry}}Deswal denied the claims of Bansal stating that she had not informed his staff rather had sent an SMS, which is against the protocol of the department.
“We are not aware of any technical snag at PT but power was not available throughout the day on Monday,” said Ashok Gulia, a resident of Mayfield Garden.
